Pre-Treatment Instructions for Injectable treatments (Neuromodulators/facial fillers)
To ensure the best possible results and minimize side effects, please review the following guidelines before your Botox appointment at Alta Vida MedSpa:
7 Days Before Treatment
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements unless prescribed by your doctor:
- Aspirin
- Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
- Naproxen (Aleve)
- Fish oil, vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, garlic, ginseng, turmeric, St. John's Wort
- These can increase the risk of bruising.
- Avoid alcohol consumption, especially red wine.
- Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet to support skin and overall wellness.
24–48 Hours Before Treatment
- Avoid facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, waxing, or any other facial treatments in the injection area.
- Minimize caffeine intake to reduce bruising risk.
- Let us know if you’re feeling unwell, have a cold sore, skin infection, or any recent illness.
Day of Your Appointment
- Arrive with a clean face – no makeup, moisturizers, or sunscreen on the treatment area.
- Eat a light meal before your appointment to prevent lightheadedness.
- Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to sit upright during and after the procedure.
- Inform your provider if:
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You’ve had Botox or any neuromodulator injections in the last 3–6 months
- You are taking antibiotics, muscle relaxants, or sleep medications
Important Notes
- Botox is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, or has certain neurological disorders.
- Results take 3–7 days to begin appearing, with full results around 2 weeks post-treatment.
- Avoid strenuous activity and lying flat for 4 hours after treatment.

Immediately After Your Treatment
Do:
- Remain upright for at least 4 hours after treatment
- Gently move your facial muscles (smile, frown, raise eyebrows) to help Botox absorb evenly
- Resume normal daily activities (unless advised otherwise)
- Stay well-hydrated

- Lying down, bending over, or reclining for 4 hours
- Touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours
- Applying makeup or skincare on injection sites for at least 6 hours
- Strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, or sweating for 24 hours
- Facial treatments such as facials, waxing, chemical peels, or microneedling for at least 7 days
